There's No Place Like Home

The Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Alexander Platt, celebrates Marion/Grant theatre_audience.jpgCounty during their 2007-2008 Season.  Join them on March 1, 2008 as they perform a 'Homecoming' Concert on the campus of Taylor University in Upland.  Leon Harshenin, Taylor University, and Phoenix Park-Kim, Indiana Wesleyan University, duo pianists, will be featured. Selections for the evening include Haydn:  Symphony No. 22, "Philosopher", Mozart:  "Concerto for Two Pianos", and Haydn:  Symphony No. 55, "Schoolmaster" Te Deum in C.

Dr. Harshenin is an Associate Professor in the Taylor University Music Department.  He earned both his B. M. Degree and his M. M. Degree from The Julliard School.  He earned his D. M. A. from the University of Michigan.  Dr. Harshenin specializes in Piano, Music Theory, and Piano Literature.  He is an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church sanctuary choir.

Dr. Phoenix Park-Kim joined the faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University in 2006, where she teaches Applied Piano, Class Piano, Keyboard Literature, and coordinates the Accompanying Program.  A native of Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Park-Kim earned her B. A. and her B. M. from Yonsei University, then went on to Miami University to earn her M. M.  She completed her D. M. A. from the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
